Description of the organization

The Regroupement des centres d’amitié autochtone du Québec (RCAAQ) is the provincial association of Native Friendship Centres in Quebec. Our mission is to advocate for the rights and interests of Indigenous city dwellers and support our member Native Friendship Centres in Quebec in fulfilling their mission.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Partnerships and Programs Director, the Health and Wellness Advisor participates in the design and implementation of the RCAAQ’s strategic orientations in the field of health and wellness. In addition, they support the development and rollout of initiatives and programs in partnership with the Centres in a holistic and integrated vision of continuous service delivery.

More specifically, the Health and Wellness Advisor:

  • Inventories the Native Friendship Centres’ priority needs and assesses their collective and individual health and wellness needs
  • Ensures a holistic and integrated vision of the services and their deployment in the various Native Friendship Centres by gathering the necessary information from appropriate players
  • Produces relevant quantitative and qualitative data to support informed decision-making and ensures the sustainability of the services being implemented
  • Produces reports on the projects with which they are tasked
  • Optimal use of its program resources
  • Develops, in collaboration with the RCAAQ staff and the Native Friendship Centres, a strategic health and wellness vision to ensure its rollout in targeted Native Friendship Centres
  • Oversees the deployment of quality services
  • Ensures the application of policies and funding agreements
  • Remains on the lookout for funding opportunities and develop projects that can meet prioritized needs
  • Keeps the health and wellness section of the RCAAQ website up to date
  • Ensures a watch of latest innovations and promising practices
  • Guidance for the Native Friendship Centres’ holistic development
  • Acts as an advisor to the Native Friendship Centres
  • Plans and contributes to success in the health and wellness field in all Centres, based on identified needs (training, coaching, continuous improvement)
  • Standardizes practices
  • Representation and promotion of the rights and interests of the Movement
  • Represents the interests of the Native Friendship Centre Movement
  • Maintains close relations with various local, municipal and governmental authorities, advisory committees and other partners
  • Develops solid and constructive partnerships
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the Movement, understands and is able to articulate its interests and issues
  • Collaborates with researchers

Requirements

Education and experience

  • University degree and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent spoken and written French
  • Experience working in an Indigenous work environment
  • Excellent understanding of English
  • Mastery of the Office suite
